2005 Torquay Tour

A team photo before we go
Dave Cullum pulls a face out of the window (not the worst thing he stuck out of the window)
Who's farted?
That's funny. There were loads of people behind me a minute ago
Monday morning started with a game of Crazy Golf
Julia Daniel shows off her technique
Paul Stimpson plays on despite having his trousers stolen
Martin Cullum putts for victory
Dave Cullum meets his perfect mate
Before we headed off to Cornwood there was time for some beach cricket
.....in front of our biggest crowd of the season
Steve Holt fielded in the deep
The game is brought to a close when someone broke the bat
We couldn't leave the beach without a team photo
and before we faced Cornwood we had to have another team photo
Chasing 147, for some it was over too soon
Dave Sandham equal top scored with 18
.....before the heavens opened
We went out again once the rain stopped but it was still slippery
Mark Thompson joins the duck club
.....and makes a poor choice of where to sit
but he perked up when he finally got some crumpet
With the Paignton game cancelled Dave Cullum tried to sell wicket keeping tips at Paignton Zoo
while Mark Thompson and Paul Stimpson check out the local properties
Some of the Zoo signs were very apt
Others were less so
Once the last bat was out we called it a day
The following morning we headed off to the local caves
which Peter Howard seemed to be pretty excited about
until he saw the tour guide
but at least Dave Sandham was reunited with his long lost twin
In the afternoon we set about chasing Ivybridges 213
Dave Fletcher played his normal game, taking 28 balls to get off the mark
but once he started scoring he couldn't stop and soon brought up his 50
he was finally out for 82
Dave Sandham shows his pleasure as Mark Thompson hits a six
Dave Cullum went on to get his maiden 50
which left him exhausted
although umpiring was quite tiring too apparently
Before the last match there was time for a round of pitch and putt
Stuart Overall 'slightly' overhit his shot onto the bowls green
With an appetite worked up we tried the Torquay cream teas
After waking Peter Howard from his afternoon nap it was off to South Devon to play Crane
only to find the place deserted
so we claimed the pavilion with our version of a german beach towel
and passed the time with a team photo
when Crane did turn up we took one of them
Crane batted first and recovered from 34 for 5 to post 212
In response, Dave Cullum hit 21
Mark Thompson scored 28
and Simon Smith chipped in with 17
but Martin Cullum top scored with an unbeaten 29
Dave Fletcher tried his best to put the opposition off whilst umpiring
but when Steve Plumb was out that was it
We didn't win a match but we competed in every game against some good opposition
If you have any photos from any Cricket Club events please mail them to webmaster@barhillcricket.org.uk and any good ones will be added.
The tour was extended to take on the Bar Hill Friendly side on a dodgy looking pitch
Martin Cullum continues his Tour form by trying (and failing) to pick something up
The Tour finally ended with a win thanks to Dave Fletcher hitting an unbeaten 64
